Age "In my prime"

Hometown Sheffield

Occupation Head Chef

PB list Barbel 13lb 8oz, Chub 6lb 8oz

Favourite species The one on the end of my line… with a real soft spot for barbel

Favourite bait The one that is most effective at the time

Favourite method I do like to see the rod top slam down a couple of feet so it would have to be feeder fishing

Favourite venue The Trent from tip to toe

Profile I have been fishing the Trent now since the very late 70's and have seen the river change beyond all recognition however my formative fishing was for the most part done on a large any method trout reservoir on the outskirts of Sheffield called Dam Flask. Dam Flask is a big mean and moody beast of water that can break an angler's ego into tiny shards just for the fun of it but once a friendship is struck it tends to deliver results on a regular basis. It is a venue that demands a basic understanding of "watercraft" just like the Trent and that is why I believe that I enjoy fishing the Trent as it is also a big mean and moody water that does not give up its treasure lightly. Angling should not be about how many pounds of hybridised carp can be squeezed into a keepnet in five hours nor should it be about catching at all costs and be dammed the anglers around you.

My fishing philosophy is all about having fun!

Angling highlights Bagging four double figure barbel in a session, landing barbel of 13, 12 and 11lb in consecutive casts

What's the future for your fishing My main ambition in angling are to enjoy myself doing whatever I am doing at that point in time, at the end of the day it is only fishing and I go fishing to relieve stress and get away from the everyday hum-drum of work although I would like to catch a barbel over 14lb and a carp over 20lb from the Trent.
